Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts:

Matt Ryan and his giant contract were shipped out of Atlanta, the Falcons have been in a downward spiral since their Super Bowl loss in 2017 and so has Ryan. So much so that many have said the franchise needs to restart, and that Matt Ryan is washed up.

The Falcons were indeed spiraling out of control and it left Matt Ryan with no help around him due to his giant contract. Weapons, OL help, and defense were shipped away little by little in Atlanta and it left Ryan with almost nothing to work with.

Which didn’t help him by any means but when on an even playing field, Ryan showed last season that he still has it. The Falcons were supposed to be tanking but due to their resilience and mostly the atrociousness of the NFC Atlanta were in the playoff race until the very end.

And bad teams don’t do that unless they have a decent QB, on any given Sunday Matt Ryan can still suit up and be a reliable starter in the NFL. After the nightmare that was the Carson Wentz experiment was for the Colts, a reliable game manager like Matt Ryan is the perfect replacement.

Ryan now has improved coaching, improved OL, improved run game, improved weapons, and an improved defense. No Ryan won’t be pushing the needle for MVP but chances are he will remind the public he is not washed up yet.

Also, fun fact: “Washed up” Matt Ryan is the passing yards leader among all QB’s since 2016, per statmuse.com.
