Jaylen Waddle being a leader of the offense will pay off immediately if he’s up for it

I know it’s kind of cliche to think about players as leaders mainly because what does that even mean? Well, there’s no real description for it but like Justice Potter Stewart once said “I know it when I see it.”

We all have an idea of what leadership looks like and it would be a great thing for Jaylen Waddle and the Miami Dolphins if he made the conscious effort to be looked at as a leader on the team.

That doesn’t mean he has to get in a guy’s face if they aren’t doing what they’re supposed to be doing. I don’t think that’s Waddle’s style. But I think he can still be a vocal leader for the team. I can see him on the sideline being all fiery trying to wake everyone up if the team does one of their classic first-quarter sleepwalks that they love to do. I can see Waddle advising players on what adjustments can be made during a game.

Obviously, leading by example by being a leader by how he carries himself on and off the field is important as well. I guess I just feel that Jaylen Waddle, and hope with everything I have, will be here for a long time. The offense has some established veterans but it needs a young player who is very good to carry out some of their messages and has some messages of his own.

Jaylen Waddle has a chance to be that guy and I hope he wants it. He’s a bonafide stud and that alone carries a lot of weight.

Tyreek Hill will be looked at as the man but he shouldn’t be here longer than Waddle should be. The same goes for Mike Gesicki. Waddle should outlast all of them. He can make this his team if wants and I hope he does. That be great for the Dolphins.

Professionals will tell you that the leap from year one to year two is immense. Jaylen Waddle is already ahead of so many others so if he can get even a little bit better in all these categories and others, he can be a top-five receiver by the end of the year. Imagine that happening. How sweet it would be.
