The Miami Dolphins were supposed to take the next big step but instead, all signs pointed to another year of questions and concerns.

January began with the knowledge that the Dolphins would not be a part of the post-season. A loss in late December sealed their fate but a victory over the Patriots in the final regular season weekend, was enough to get fans fired up for the future.

On January 10th, the Dolphins first bombshell surprise of the 2022 season dropped. Brian Flores was fired and fans went crazy. The question fans were asking was when Chris Grier would follow. He wouldn’t, we know now.

In the days that followed, we learned of the discord within the Dolphins executive offices. We learned that Flores wasn’t a good leader, we learned that his own coaching staff had problems with him as did many players. We learned the entire Deshaun Watson fiasco was all because of Flores and not Grier as we all initially thought.

With Flores gone, Miami turned to the coaching ranks yet again but after two winning seasons, back to back, Miami fans were not all that thrilled with another potential rebuild or coaching change. Still, if this was the only drama that the Dolphins would undergo in 2022, better to rip off the bandaid then slowly pull it.

Miami fans had no idea what was coming. The search for a head coach lasted through most of the month.
