James Cook is a perfect fit for the Miami Dolphins’ running back room.

If you could make a running back in a lab to fit Mike McDaniel’s offense in Miami, you would come very close to making James Cook.

Cook will always have the knock of his size, mainly because you wish he weighed 15-20 pounds more, but outside of his size, Cook is everything Miami needs and then some. I also believe he runs like he is a bigger running back, and his size is never an issue on film.

The former Georgia Bulldog will thrive in an outside zone offense or an offense that gets him the ball out in space on tosses. McDaniel loved the outside zone and buck sweeps, so Cook would plugin easily.

The way Cook bursts to the edge and makes one cut and goes is exactly what the Dolphins need. I know they added two new guys who can do similar things, but I think bringing Cook to that mix would be awesome. Oddly enough, I think Cook is almost like a combo of newly acquired Dolphins running backs Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds. Those three guys together would give the Dolphins a dangerous running back room and a running back room that McDaniel can trust.
