Celebrity Miami Dolphins fan #2: Alex Rodriguez

The story behind Alex Rodriguez being a Dolphin fan is simple: he was raised in Miami during some of the best days for the Miami Dolphins franchise.

A-Rod played baseball locally at both Christopher Columbus High School and Westminster Christian School, where he was regarded as the top prospect in the country. He had an offer to remain at home for college when the University of Miami offered him a scholarship, but he turned it down in order to pursue his major league dreams.

Rodriguez claims that he has been a Dolphins’ fan all his life, and can recount some of the greatest moments in team history from the 80s and 90s. In a meeting with quarterback Dan Marino for Fox Sports, Rodriguez revealed that he wore the number 13 for the Yankees because of his childhood hero.

While A-Rod has been trying to get his foot in the door with ownership of a professional sports franchise, it doesn’t seem as though he’ll do it in his hometown. Rodriguez is a part of a group that plans to purchase the Minnesota Timberwolves within the next couple of years.
