Best picks the Miami Dolphins made in the draft this weekend
By Juan Vasquez
ZaQuandre White – Runningback – South Carolina:
When scouting for late-round picks I figured there is the most talent still available at the RB position, so I started doing homework, and on thedraftnetwork.com I found a player that could end up being a hidden gem.
If you want to read my report on ZaQuandre White just click here.
But don’t take it from me, take it from the guys grinding the tape:
Brentley Weissman from thedraftnetwork.com had this to say about White:
"White possesses excellent size and overall athleticism for the position. He is tall for a running back and runs with an upright body lean. White displays very good vision and patience when pressing the line of scrimmage and has very good burst and straight-line speed to explode through the holes. For a bigger back, White shows an impressive ability to change direction and is outstanding at setting up his defenders with leverage and taking lateral cuts."
Nobody is expecting White to be the next Adrian Peterson, but he could be a valuable depth piece, or rotational piece if he makes his way up the rankings.
Lance Zierlein from thedraftnetwork.com had this to say about White:
"He’s entertaining to watch with unpredictable, razor-sharp cuts from any spot on the field, but he frequently strays from designed run tracks, which prevents him from finding a rhythm. White has plenty of tread left on the tire and his blend of size and explosiveness will be very appealing for teams looking for a developmental RB3 with run/catch upside to move up the depth chart."
In the end, there is a lot of potential here, and with proper coaching, if a hole at the RB position needs to be filled ZaQuandre White should be ready to go. Providing the same or little to no drop off from an effective run game.
And we know Miami’s run game will be effective because McDaniel has been part of a system that creates great run games from scratch since 2006. Always the same blueprint and ZaQuandre White will fit the system like a glove.
