Sony Michel has the ability to shore up the Miami Dolphins short-yardage problem.

The current collection of Dolphins running backs minus Doaks, all sort of fit the same profile. fast, quick-twitch, outside runners who don’t break any tackles. In fact, even if even a fingernail was to collide with any of these guys then they would be hurled back to the earth lightning fast.

Running up inside the tackles, by definition, means contact is going to occur. Hope you were sitting down for that nugget. Sony Michel is built to ram it up in there and take on punishment. Especially on those short-yardage situations that often saw the galaxy brains of the trio of doofuses collectively fire off and trot Jacoby Brissett out there, Michel’s body and grit will be quite the upgrade.

One thing I believe will be a staple of Mike McDaniel’s offense is not giving things away based on who is on the field. On 3rd or 4th and short if Sony Michel is in the backfield, he will most likely be getting the ball. But that won’t be a guarantee because McDaniel is too smart for that and will have a few zags in place whenever everyone thinks he should be zigging.

The point is, the Miami Dolphins have a guy who can be relied on to get those one-yard gains when they present themselves. Not saying he’s going to be Lousaka Polite but he shouldn’t be Jordan Howard or Malcolm Brown either.

Oh and the guy loves to pass-block and is damn good at it as well, which is nice.
