Miami Dolphins storylines Weeks 5 & 6

Week 5: @ Jets

The Week 5 meeting between the Dolphins and the Jets will be the 2022 version of the MetLife Takeover for Miami fans. The Dolphins will be looking to pick up a sure victory after a brutal first four games, while the Jets will be coming off an equally tough start. Both teams will be looking to pick up a needed divisional win, and Miami should be favored despite being the road team.

The Jets had an impressive offseason, but much of their potential success rides in the hands of second-year signal-caller Zach Wilson, whom the Dolphins defense has seen and has had success against. If he is able to become the quarterback that New York hopes he can, then there could be another dog in the fight in the AFC East. Miami can help quell those hopes with a win in early October.

Week 6: vs. Vikings

One of the best storylines of this game will come by way of what might be the best positional match-up of the season.

The visiting Minnesota Vikings will have one of the more talented wide receiver groups of any team that the Dolphins play, and the unit is especially strong at the top. Justin Jefferson is coming off of a season in which he put up 1,600+ yards and 10 touchdowns, and Adam Thielen has scored 24 touchdowns in his last 28 games.

The duo will present a problem to a lot of defenses, but Miami is going to be one of the best equipped to handle the job. Xavien Howard and Byron Jones will be manning the corners, and last year’s rookie sensation Jevon Holland will be patrolling center field for the Dolphins. Whichever team gets the best of this positional battle may have the upper hand at victory in the game.
