Miami Dolphins: 10 most important players on the roster for 2022
#9 most important Miami Dolphins player: Teddy Bridgewater
Can a team with serious playoff aspirations have a backup quarterback be one of their top ten most important players? The Dolphins certainly can.
The reason is twofold. Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has yet to prove that he can remain healthy, and has missed significant time already in his short career. And if many of the “experts” are proved correct, there may come a time in 2022 when a QB change needs to be made.
Enter Teddy Bridgewater, who may be the best backup in the league. We’ll hope that he doesn’t require much usage, but having an established veteran as the number two guy could prove to be of the utmost importance to Miami.
#8: Christian Wilkins
We could probably go with a handful of different defensive linemen for a spot on this list, but Christian Wilkins stands out above the rest in terms of overall importance.
The defensive line is probably the most underrated unit on the team, as there are very few weak links and depth is no issue. Wilkins was the top performer of the bunch last year in terms of tackles and overall ratings, and is also young and carries the weight of being a first-round pick with him.
Wilkins will be in line for a contract extension in the near future, and the new members of the coaching staff will want as much on-field information as possible when getting together with the front office to make any decisions on him. Look for him to play a big role in 2022.
