Few guys get Miami Dolphins fans all antsy in their pantsy quite like the idea of what Lynn Bowden Jr. can do in this offense.

The next few guys are all guys who can make the team or not make it except for one.

Lynn Bowden Jr. is a player I and I think most other Miami Dolphins fans believe can be a real wild card in a Mike Mcdaniel-themed offense. His skill-set is one that is all about versatility.

We know about how he was a quarterback at Kentucky and all the yards he gathered with his legs. This we know.

We saw glimpses of what he’s capable of two seasons ago when he was a rookie. Getting this guy the ball in space or in a crowd usually creates a positive play.

What I love about Lynn Bowden Jr.’s abilities is his shiftiness which is enhanced by his quick-twitch movements. He’s not a burner. He isn’t often going to simply run past a defensive back and catch a bomb. What he can do is take a short pass and navigate a pile or take a ball from one side of the field to the other.

He also is a player that has the attributes to take a hand off here and there. That isn’t to say that he’s going to be Mike McD’s Deebo Samuel. He isn’t built for that punishment. I think most of us know that but there is still a swath of people who still want LBJ to bang it on up inside. I don’t want that at all for him.

Instead, getting him the ball on the perimeter either by a toss or screen pass and letting LBJ use his vision, that’s what I want him to be doing. And having the skill to be able to throw a football beyond decently won’t hurt either. Don’t think Mike McD is coming up with some plays where LBJ is throwing the ball.

But Lynn Bowden Jr. needs to make the team first. He’s nowhere near a lock to make it. He has to beat out a bunch of other guys as we’ve seen.

What’s working for him is that he’s an ex-quarterback and Mike McDaniel has already said he enjoys skill position guys who were quarterbacks.

As per Mike McDaniel courtesy of Adam Luckett;

"“He does have an interesting skill set,” McDaniel said about Bowden on Tuesday. “I’ve always been drawn to players that have multiple positions — specifically quarterback experience — because of the way they see the game. Lynn’s been battling some hamstring stuff. He’s been diligent in the meeting room."

Ultimately, I think Lynn Bowden Jr. makes the team and ends up being a contributing member of the offense. I’m very excited to see what he can do.
