The 4th round pick out of Texas Tech has all the measurables to be very reliable and maybe more for the Miami Dolphins.

I think Erik Ezukanma makes the team. I think he’s Mike McDaniel’s second-ever pick as a head coach and the first offensive pick he’s ever made. So, unless something outrageous happens such as Ezukanma gets hit by a meteorite, he will be suiting up for the Miami Dolphins.

Where exactly Zu(I’m pushing and hoping he goes by Zu. It will be much easier to write over and over again and it’s a pretty BA name) fits into the offense is anyone’s guess at the moment.

My expectation is that he gets on the field here and there in the first half of the season. Maybe he catches a few screen passes or perhaps he’ll be used more as a blocking receiver. He is very efficient at that.

Then in the second half of the season, when guys are a bit more dinged up, he has gathered enough trust from the coaches and can actually be put in the game for real deal snaps in big spots.

The thing is, how many 4th round receivers make much of an impact let alone do it as a rookie? Not many is the answer.

But I do like the highlights that I’ve seen. He’s big at 6’3, can go up and get the ball at its highest point, runs well with the ball in traffic, and was a force at taking reverses. Sounds like a Mike McDaniel guy.

Will he turn out to be like Hunter Long was a rookie and not see the field for unknown reasons? I hope not and I would say probably not. If he can play, I expect him to be out there. If he can’t, he won’t be. There won’t be much mystery with stuff like that, I don’t think.

The ceiling is the roof when it comes to Erik Ezukanma and I am very much intrigued to see how he handles being a pro with the other guys in the film room and that a form Red Raider is his position coach. Should be fun.
