Miami Dolphins important non-starter: Raheem Mostert

It remains unclear who will win the starting running back job for the Dolphins, and the backups could be used just as frequently as the starters in a committee backfield. But Chase Edmonds figures to have the upper hand going into camp, and should be in the starting lineup for Week 1.

That would make Raheem Mostert the backup, and he will be a very important one for Miami. The former 49ers back has a concerning injury history, and availability should be a primary goal for him in 2022. But if he is able to stay healthy, he could be one of the biggest weapons in the Dolphins’ offense.

Mostert has been clocked at the highest speeds of any player in the NFL over the last few seasons and joins Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and others to make what should be one of the fastest offenses in history. He has game-breaking ability and can use his speed to create problems for defenses that are keyed in on other players.

There may be games when he sees more touches than anyone else in the Dolphins’ backfield, but Mostert figures to be RB2, and one of the most important players on the second unit.
