Brandon Jones, 24, may become one half of the best safety duo in the NFL this season.

The Miami Dolphins drafted Jones 70th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. He did not see much in-game action in 2020, appearing in only 37% of defensive snaps.

In 2021, Jones saw an increase in playtime during the 2021 season which was reflected in the numbers he was able to put up.

Jones was more of a blitzing safety last season. He had five sacks which led the league for defensive backs according to StatMuse.

Number 29 wants to be considered more than just a blitzing safety. ” I don’t necessarily think I’m identified as just a blitzing safety, especially with the amount of stuff they have me doing on defense”, Jones said during OTAs this offseason.

Jones continued, “just trying to find the best way for me that I could be a well-rounded football player.”

Jones did have some trouble in coverage, allowing 27 completions on 33 targets in his radius last season. Per Pro-Football-Reference he allowed a rating of 95.7 to opposing quarterbacks.,

If Jones can improve on his cover skills he has a chance to be considered a high-end safety for the Miami Dolphins this season.
