Miami Dolphins potential trap game #1: Week 1 vs. Patriots

The Dolphins will begin the season with what could end up being the most brutal stretch on their schedule, and they’ll be lucky to come out of the gauntlet with a winning record. The four game stretch features games against the Ravens, Bills, and Bengals, but things will get kicked off with a meeting with the Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium during Week 1.

No matter how you feel about Miami’s ability to beat the other three teams, we can all agree that the game against the Patriots is as much a must-win as you can have in the opening game of the season. Establishing a way of winning for a first year head coach leading a team with expectations will be crucial, and waiting until Week 5 or later to do so would likely cost the Dolphins the season.

So they had better not overlook the Patriots. Yes, they will be training and game planning all summer with New England in the back of their minds, but it would be easy to assume a quick victory before the real bloodbath starts. Mike McDaniel and his crew had better keep their team focused on the task at hand.
