Miami Dolphins veteran under pressure: Myles Gaskin

There may be no returning player that is fighting a more uphill battle during training camp than Myles Gaskin. Both he and Salvon Ahmed are the returners from 2021, but there are three free-agent acquisitions that figure to be ahead of them both on the current depth chart, and Ahmed just had his contract renewed this off-season.

That leaves Gaskin as the potential odd man out if the team rolls with 3 to 4 running backs on the active roster.

A former 7th-round pick, Gaskin won the starting job in Miami and figured to be a solid contributor before the start of last season. But much like the rest of the running back stable for the Dolphins in 2021, he struggled and wound up losing the starting spot to late-season acquisitions that proved more fit for the job.

But Gaskin is still on the current roster, though his future in South Florida is anything but certain. There is a chance that he outperforms one of his peers during training camp, but the odds are not in his favor. There is a better chance of Gaskin being waived or traded before Week 1 than there is of him making the active roster for the year.
