Miami Dolphins player who should improve #1: Brandon Jones

Brandon Jones may be one of the more underrated players on the Dolphins roster, and one of the better draft finds by Chris Grier and company in recent years. After making his presence felt in 2021, he’ll look to play an even bigger role for Miami this coming season.

Thanks to the implementation of the zero-blitz that helped propel the Dolphins’ defense last year, Jones was able to lead all defensive backs in sacks with 5 takedowns. He and Jevon Holland were able to create havoc for opposing quarterbacks, which is something that the team will try to duplicate this season. Jones added his first career interception in 2021, forced a fumble, and recovered two more.

Speaking of Holland, the emergence of the second-year safety could help take some of the pressure off of Jones. Offenses will have to account for both, while Holland may be seen as more of a threat, which could mean less attention on Jones. If he is able to remain healthy and capitalize on his opportunities, he could see a spike in his statistical production in 2022, something that would bolster an already elite group of players in Miami’s secondary.
