Miami Dolphins scapegoat #3: Chris Grier

Chris Grier’s tenure as the general manager of the Miami Dolphins can be judged in vastly different ways, depending on which portion of the fan base you ask. But there is no denying that he has done his job over the last couple of years, at least on paper.

While his track record in the draft has been hit or miss, Grier seems to have struck gold with his 2021 class, one that could provide cornerstone pieces for the franchise for years to come. He backed that up with what looks to be quite an impressive off-season in 2022, at least on paper.

But if what is on the paper doesn’t translate to the field come Sundays in September and October, then a good portion of the fan base will be pointing the finger at Grier and his staff. Before the fireworks during the last free agency period (and even now afterward), there were calls for his job due to his inconsistency.

There won’t be any firing any time soon. Grier has been a part of Miami’s front office for over two decades, and could even be in the running for Executive of the Year if things go correctly for the Dolphins in 2022.

Aside from Tua Tagovailoa, there may not be a figure within the organization that the fan base is more undecided on than Chris Grier.
