Miami Dolphins story line #1: How does the offense look?

Brace yourself for the overreactions. What shouldn’t be a story like until later in the pre-season will be front and center during the first week of training camp: how does the offense look?

There are plenty of hype and expectations surrounding the Dolphins offense for the 2022 season, and much of their potential for success rides on the development on that side of the ball. It will be crucial for Mike McDaniel’s schemes to work, and for him to be able to get the most out of his premiere stable of weapons.

Fans and the media alike will be eager to see the progress. All eyes will be on Tua Tagovailoa during the opening days of camp, and whether he is able to run a fluid offense within a new scheme.

The truth is, there will be a learning curve, for everyone involved, one that could result in sloppy production during week one. As soon as the beat reporters start tweeting about interceptions in practice sessions, the sky will start falling for the Dolphins’ fan base.

But things will take time. There is a full month of training camp and three exhibition games to try and get things right, and reports on the progress of the offense won’t really mean anything until we get into the latter portions of August.
