Mohamed Sanu chose to take the surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble route and I must say it made an impact.

Let me say again, that the San Francisco to Miami pipeline is alive and well. I’m not about to say it’s going to rival the Miami to New England pipeline, but it’s only a few months old and they’re already installing tolls.

I wouldn’t say that anyone was completely shocked that an ex-49ers player wound up in Miami on day one of training camp due to Mike McDaniel’s affiliation with that team. But I’m rather sure nobody had Mohamed Sanu being invited to Miami Dolphins training camp on their Miami Dolphins training camp bingo card.

Now, this surprise entrant isn’t like John Cena coming back from a serious to injury to win the 2008 Royal Rumble. Instead, this is more like the late-great Mr. Perfect surprising everybody and entering the 2002 rumble and making it to the final four.

There’s no real clear-cut answer to why Mohamed Sanu was brought in other than the Miami Dolphins released WR Cody Core yesterday. That makes the most sense. I would guess McDaniel wanted another receiver in there to compete and why not go with a guy who knows your system and who has a killer arm? Makes sense to me.

Will Sanu only be a camp body? I think everything is on the table. He’ll be competing with Preston Williams, Lynn Bowden Jr., Trent Sherfield(another ex-49er), River Cracraft(yet another ex-49er), and DeVonte Dedmon for one of the last receiver spots on the team.

Hopefully, it’s a tough competition that ultimately makes Mike McDaniel have to make a tough decision on who to keep.

Hey at least the Miami Dolphins didn’t trade a 2nd round pick for Sanu like the Patriots did. There is that.
