The Miami Dolphins are still hoping that Brandon Jones will continue to improve. He is doing well so far but another step will help keep him around.

Jones was taken at the top of round  three at the sixth spot. Jones filled a need for the Dolphins and while he had some ups and downs his rookie season, his 2nd year in 2021 was much better. He started 13 of 15 games last year and added 5 sacks. Jones is developing into a perfect pass rusher from the safety position.

The best options for Miami to replace him would have come much lower in the draft. Linebacker Alex Highsmith has looked good in Pittsburgh but was drafted all the way down at pick 102.

Interestingly enough, the Dolphins traded for RB/WR Lynn Bowden, Jr. who was drafted in the third round of the 2020 draft by the Raiders. He was taken 80th overall and after dealing with injuries could see a huge boost in 2022 under Mike McDaniel.

Looking at the draft class in round three, there isn’t a whole lot that I would give up Jones for and Miami has to be happy with the selection. So far, it’s working out well.
