Miami Dolphins fantasy sleeper #3: The Defense

Given how they are ranked differently by different outlets, the Miami Dolphins defense is all over the board when it comes to their outlook for fantasy football this coming season.

The unit finished in the middle of the pack in terms of overall defense, and it really was a tale of two seasons during the 7-game winning and losing streaks that the team endured. But the defense was able to carry over some of the brilliance from the season prior and had some dominant performances in the middle of the season.

While they have been known for their takeaways (26 last year) and their sacks (5th most in the NFL), their points allowed numbers are lacking, and could be their Achilles heel when it comes to their fantasy status.

They’ll probably be available in the very late rounds of your draft, and may not even be selected at all. Unless there is are multiple teams that own multiple defenses in a 12-man league, the Miami Dolphins defense should be there for the taking if you are looking for a sleeper in the late rounds or on the waiver wire.
