Miami Dolphins QB prediction #2: Teddy Bridgewater starts two games

The position of backup quarterback has been an essential one for the Dolphins over the last couple of seasons, and will be until Tagovailoa proves that he can remain on the field through his injury issues. There was a lot of pressure put on Jacoby Brissett last year when Tua went down in Week 2, and he failed to deliver in his mid-season stint.

Miami hopes to have a more competent option behind QB1 on the depth chart in 2022. The team went out and signed Teddy Bridgewater to fill that role for the coming season, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to many for him to see game action, and probably even a start or two.

But it (hopefully) won’t be because Tagovailoa struggles. When making predictions about the third-year quarterback, it is impossible not to factor in the threat of missed time due to injury, and I’m betting on Tua missing two starts at some point during the season. I certainly don’t hope so, but it has to be considered.

Will Bridgewater be up to the task? He would appear to be a better option than Brissett given their histories as starting quarterbacks in the league, but there is a reason why he remains in the backup ranks. Bridgewater has similar deficiencies in his skill set that people believe that Tua does, but he may be asked to simply not make mistakes in what is hopefully a short stint.
