Miami Dolphins training camp positive #2: New regime, new attitude

Ever since the arrival of new head coach Mike McDaniel, reports out of the Dolphins’ locker room have been overwhelmingly positive in favor of the fresh new face. Things had certainly gotten stale under Brian Flores, and reports of unhappiness from the players have surfaced after his firing in January. A new attitude was needed, and McDaniel has certainly provided it.

The players seem looser, both via the team’s social media and on their own accord. New tweaks to practice like the orange jersey and the custom-made music playlists have brought new energy to the beginning of training camp, and the “Mic’d Up” clips from both players and McDaniel alike have proved that. The hoards of fans that came out for last Saturday’s open practice only intensified that energy.

There were doubts about McDaniel and his lack of head coaching experience at any level, and the Dolphins took a chance as the only team to even interview him during the hiring process. But they were a team that needed a shot in the arm, especially from a player/coach relationship perspective, and McDaniel seems to have been just what the doctor ordered in that regard.
