Salvon Ahmed is having a quiet camp that you would expect from someone deep on the Miami Dolphins depth chart.

In a crowded running back room, I have rarely heard Ahmed’s name mentioned in the media or by the fans who post on social media. Ahmed was a long shot to make the roster initially but now, he seems to be fighting for a spot that likely will not exist.

On the depth chart, Ahmed is listed third behind Raheem Mostert and Myles Gaskin but the Dolphins also have two RB groups on their chart. The other Chase Edmonds and Sony Michel are in the one and two spots.

Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post listed Ahmed as one of the players who could benefit from joint practices in Tampa Bay.

We will see a lot more of Ahmed during the team’s first preseason game against the Buccaneers. It may be an audition for other teams but how much can he realistically expect to see? Miami has a crowded RB room. Mostert, Edmonds, and Michel will likely sit out most if not all of the game providing chances for the deeper guys like Ahmed.

While there is plenty of game tape on Ahmed, this is the first year that Mike McDaniels is working with him in Miami.
