These elements to the Miami Dolphins’ defense were non-existent last week. Get the kinks out now and improve this week. Just do that and we’ll be great.

A bit of a twofer here, but the Miami Dolphins need to get better in both of these areas. Again, I’m really going off the board with the things that I’m specifically looking for.

Last week against Tampa Bay, the Miami Dolphins defense as a unit missed anywhere from 10-120,000 tackles which led to inflated numbers by the Tampa Bay receivers and quarterbacks. The defense made Blaine Gabbert, Kyle Trask, Tyler Johnson, Kaylon Geiger, and Jerreth Sterns look like the greatest show on turf last week.

Sure, you could say that a big reason why that happened is that the Miami Dolphins’ defense was loaded with mostly backups. I don’t care. Tackle the guy with the ball and make teams throw on 3rd and long.

On the backside, there were miscommunications that need to get cleaned up. Tampa Bay’s first TD happened because of a miscommunication between Brandon Jones and Noah Igbinoghene. Josh Boyer has to get these guys on the same page.

The Miami Dolphins defense had a strong week this week seemingly getting the message from last week that they need to play better. Hopefully, they ride that wave of solid play into Saturday and for the rest of my lifetime.
