The Mike Gesicki era with the Miami Dolphins could be coming to a quick conclusion sooner rather than later.

There has been speculation and talk that at some point prior to the NFL trade deadline, Mike Gesicki could be moved in a trade. He doesn’t fit the system that Miami is running, not perfectly anyway. Now there is more rumor that the Dolphins are actually talking with teams.

According to PFF via the tweet below, the Dolphins are already engaged in potential trade talks for their number one TE.

In many cases when a new head coach takes over a team, he molds his roster to his liking. A defensive-minded coach will often make big changes on that side of the ball while an offensive-minded coach will do the same on offense. Mike McDaniel’s offense has a specific expectation for the tight end and so far, Mike Gesicki isn’t fitting that need.

NOTE: Miami Dolphins beat writer Hal Habib is disputing the Dolphins have held any talks about trading Mike Gesicki.

Miami would have to be blown away with an offer but at the same time, Gesicki will be a free agent next year and any team interested will want a new contract guarantee and it won’t be cheap. That will drive his value down in compensation but if the Dolphins can flip him for a player that fills a need, maybe there will be value in that deal.
