The Miami Dolphins running game should see a boost with the additions of Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert.

The start of the season means we can cheat a little bit, right? Regardless, both of these running backs present an interesting skill set that should be maximized in the McDaniel offense.

A Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert backfield isn’t a traditional lighting-and-thunder backfield, it’s more like a route running lighting and super fast lighting. These guys can ball and there likely won’t be a true starter, their skill sets are different enough where matchup will be vital – something to keep in mind for you fantasy football players.

Edmonds is a receiving back when it’s all said and done. His skill set is more and he’s electric with the football in his hands, but his true impact comes as a pass catcher out of the backfield. His 5.1 yards per carrying last season are extremely good, but he served as James Conner’s change of pace back in Arizona last season. Edmonds will be a favorite target of Tagovailoa and that’s not a bad thing.

On the other hand, Mostert is one of the fastest players in the entire NFL. You’ve heard the Dolphins called the “Legion of Zoom,” a title earned thanks to the extremely fast group of players featuring Mostert, Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. Mostert missed most of last season due to an injury in week 1 injury against Detriot. Mostert’s a big play waiting to happen every time he touches the ball, he just has problems staying healthy.

The Dolphins will benefit from Edmunds and Mostert, especially if the two can stay healthy. If they can’t or struggle at any point, the Dolphins chose to keep Myles Gaskins and Salvon Ahmed on the roster, two players with experience as lead-backs in the NFL.
