Jalen Waddle should hit superstardom in 2022

Jaylen Waddle is most likely the best Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick of my life. Considering I was born in 1999, it’s been a lot of misses in the first round that I can remember.  Waddle far exceeded expectations after being selected with a pick that Chris Grier used to play chess with.

In year 2 Waddle should be even better. By the numbers, Waddle was the de-facto number one wideout for the Dolphins last season. He broke the league record for most catches by a rookie and led the Dolphins. He now gets to play alongside Tyreek Hill forcing teams to pick whose speed they’ll be most concerned with.

Right now for Waddle, the biggest question mark will be his health. His lower body injury kept him out of every preseason game and has him currently tagged as questionable for the season opener. However, he is expected to be ready to play. Waddle only missed one game last season, but it’s an issue to keep a close eye on throughout the season as lower body injuries tend to linger for players.

Outside of Tagovailoa, Waddle will get the biggest boost from playing in an improved offense. His skill set should translate well in McDaniel’s offense and he should still be considered a wide receiver.
