The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots both have very good defensive interior linemen and this year will be no different.

Defensive line

  • Dolphins vs. Patriots
  • Edge: Dolphins

Miami has Raekwon Davis, Zack Sieler, and Christian Wilkins on the interior and Emmanuel Ogbah on the outside. They are a tough unit that is in a system designed to allow the linebackers to make plays. Ogbah is an excellent pass rusher who is finally playing on a long-term deal when Miami made the commitment to keep him this past off-season.

In New England, it is a similar situation where the LBs are put in the position to make plays. Christian Barmore will lead the defensive interior. Former Dolphins DT Davon Godchaux starts next to him. On the edge, Lawrence Guy and Deatrick Wise, Jr.

The interior defensive front for New England is good but they are good because of the system they use. It’s the LBs that make them as good as they are. Miami’s defensive front consists of three if not four players that would start on most other NFL teams, including the Patriots. That can’t be overlooked.
