The New England Patriots will try to beat the Miami Dolphins with a strong rushing attack and that could set up the Dolphins’ safeties for a big game.

Brandon Jones

Jevon Holland is playing like he will be the next best safety in the NFL but on Sunday, the most important safety will be Brandon Jones.

Jones isn’t great in deep coverage but when it comes to attacking an offense, Jones is one of the best developing safeties. He is quick and moves fast through space. In this defensive scheme, Jones can be incredibly effective at rushing the passer and helping to collapse the pocket.

This week, however, Jones’ biggest contribution could come in the way of stopping the run.

Blitzing doesn’t have to be singularly effective at stopping the pass. Run blitzing is quite effective as well and in Jones’ timing is good, he can be as disruptive as any other player on the field.

With Miami’s attacking defense, it would be surprising to see Mac Jones having time to throw deep, and doing so against Miami’s secondary isn’t smart so with Brandon Jones, Miami could create bigger problems by moving B. Jones around the defense and disguising his blitzes.

I would keep an eye on Brandon Jones Sunday. His play could have a big impact on what the Patriots can do offensively.
