5 key players to a Miami Dolphins victory over Baltimore
By Brian Miller
Mike Gesicki has not shown up as the usual Gesicki we have seen over the last several years but today, the Miami Dolphins need him to be very good.
The Ravens will try and put a lot of pressure on Tua Tagovailoa today and that means the TEs will need to block, including Mike Gesicki who was used sparingly in the passing game week one. Last week he played around 29% of the offensive plays, which is an extremely low number for a TE who has just been franchised this past off-season.
Gesicki will be a key to helping the offensive line block the speedy defensive ends. If Gesicki can’t do that, the job will fall on Durham Smythe.
Miami’s thin at TE today with Cethan Carter out with a concussion and Hunter Long out with an ankle injury. There is no word on whether Tanner Conner will play but it seems likely given the fact without him, the Dolphins only have Smythe and Gesicki.
Due to the injuries, I would expect to see Gesicki quite a bit but in what capacity will remain the question up until kickoff.
