Miami Dolphins Week 2 Offensive Grades

Quarterback: A

It was quite easily the best performance by a Miami Dolphins quarterback since Dan Marino, and made him the talk of the league after two years of scrutiny to begin his career. For Tua Tagovailoa personally, it may have been the confidence boost that he needed to become the team’s starting signal caller of the future.

His 469 yards were the most in Dolphins history by anyone not named Marino, and he tied the franchise record for touchdown passes in a single game with 6. But Tagovailoa not only put up numbers, he was mostly responsible for engineering the biggest comeback the league has seen in over ten years. A 21-point 4th quarter comeback on the road just doesn’t happen for the Miami Dolphins, but it did on Sunday with Tua at the helm.

Football is a sixty-minute game, and it wasn’t until the second half that Tagovailoa really lit the spark under the offense. Had it not been for the two first-half interceptions on forced throws, his grade would have been an A+. He’ll face what will be one of the biggest tests of the season next week as he tries to follow up his stellar performance by taking on the Buffalo Bills at home.
