The Miami Dolphins will need to improve their linebacker unit next off-season.

For now, there is a good group at linebacker and the Dolphins added some veteran help like Melvin Ingram and Trey Flowers but those are one-year deals and Jerome Baker will be a free agent heading into the 2024 season.

It would make sense not to wait to address the position and the draft would benefit more than free agency. The 2024 off-season will be huge for the Dolphins with Christian Wilkins, Chase Edmonds, Connor Williams, Zach Sieler, Durham Smythe, Alec Ingold, Raekwon Davis, Brandon Jones, Robert Hunt, and Austin Jackson all potentially being free agents.

Miami will have to spend money to keep some of those guys making the draft more focused and important. In 2023, the Dolphins could add another linebacker that takes over for Baker if Miami lets him go.

After the 2022 season, Miami will need to make decisions on Ingram, Duke Riley, Elandon Roberts, Sam Eguavoen, and Andrew Van Ginkel. Four of them are on one-year contracts so the Dolphins could attempt to retain them on another one-year deal but AVG likely won’t sign a one-year contract.

The best options for Miami will lie in the draft.
