Through the first three games, rookie Sauce Gardner has looked good but he will be tested this week by the Miami Dolphins speedy WR group.

It doesn’t matter how good Sauce Gardner is through four weeks, he hasn’t seen the likes of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Whoever he covers, he is going to need over the top assistance. Hill and Waddle both will present a big challenge for Gardner.

So far, the first-round rookie wide out has four passes defenseed and 10 solo tackles but he is still looking for his first turnover. Gardner plays physical and has already gone toe-to-toe with Ja’Marr Chase. This week he faces another top NFL duo.

Gardner may be the Jets best pure coverage corner right now but the Dolphins will have take advantage of his inexperience at this level and they will need to test him early with the speed of their wide receiver unit.

I would guess that Gardner lines up more on Waddle that Hill as I would expect the Jets to give Hill a lot of attention. I’m not sure if Gardner can hold his own against Waddle one on one but he is good enough to at least start the game man up in coverage and then play it out and adjust as needed.

Overall, the key for Miami offensively is going to be Teddy Bridgewater. He has to be faster off the snap than he has been in the two appearances so far this year. If Bridgewater can’t get the ball in the hands of his playmakers consistently on Sunday, the Jets are going to stick around and the five players mentioned above will be able to make plays that could create problems for the Dolphins on both sides of the ball.
