#3: The safety on Dolphins QB Teddy Bridgewater:
This safety call has a lot of layers to it, first off the pass protection for Dolphins QB Teddy Bridgewater is awful which causes him to throw it away while also taking a big hit. This hit ended up getting reviewed by the NFL since Bridgewater got hurt on the play and had to be taken to the blue tent.
According to the report by the CBS Broadcast, Teddy Bridgewater was checked for an elbow injury as well as a concussion since he had hit his head on the floor in that hit.
Bridgewater had some discomfort in his elbow but passed the concussion test with no problem. However, Teddy Bridgewater was ruled out by officials that determined he showed signs of “gross motor instability.”
This is a new ruling implemented by the NFLPA after Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion injury vs the Bengals. Stating that if a player shows any sign of “gross motor instability” aka stumbling around after a big hit, then that player is automatically removed from the game even if they pass concussion tests.
Usually, Bridgewater would have been clear to come back, but instead was ruled out. Mike McDaniel had no choice but to play his 3rd-string, 7th-round rookie QB with zero preparation for this game, Skylar Thompson.
