Miami Dolphins 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Needs all around
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins will now be back to their normal seven selections and retained their 2nd round pick this year losing their 3rd in 2024.
The Miami Dolphins have a clear need for a cornerback but Mike McDaniel needs someone he can fit into his offense and since they don’t need an RB, so tight end makes the most sense.
Ali is a fast tight end with good hands but he is a really solid blocker and that is what is missing from McDaniel’s system. With a blocking TE, the Dolphins will be able to open more of that system.
Mike Gesicki is a great receiving tight end but the Dolphins should trade him because there is no future for him with Miami. He simply is too much of a liability when inline blocking. His forte is and will always be a pass-catching tight end or slot receiver.
The Dolphins need someone who can do both and Ali could be that guy. It might make Dolphins fans a little queazy to see another TE taken early after watching Miami draft Hunter Long two seasons ago but Long isn’t showing enough to be considered the answer so, next year, Miami looks again and this is a perfect spot for Ali to land and be used like George Kittle is in San Francisco.
