The Miami Dolphins and their blitzkrieg-style defense are starting to rev up but they have mostly been a stout frontline.

We long for the days of last year when the Miami Dolphins and their blood-thirsty defense were the hounds of justice and brought down the quarterback at a breakneck pace. That’s not how it started this year for the defense but the defense is starting to get back to its roots.

Not because of lack of trying, but the Dolphin’s defense has been mostly a very formidable wall against opposing offenses. The Dolphins are giving up 23 points per game which put them around the bottom 3rd in the league in points per game. A lot of that has to do with the Ravens and Jets games.

But certainly, of late, the defense is forcing a ton of punts and getting off the field. I almost expect them to have teams punting at some point every drive or just giving up three.

We want turnovers like we saw last year but before that happens I think the defense has to live with simply forcing a team to punt or miss on 4th down. Then the turnovers will happen.

We saw last week the Dolphin’s defense get three, they really only should have gotten two because the offense should have been able to put it in the freezer after the Holland INT, but whatever at this point right? So it seems the defense has gotten a taste for turnovers.

With the stretch of quarterbacks that Miami faces coming up, I see no reason why creating turnovers shouldn’t be on the docket. Keep making the basic plays, and the really cool, game-changing ones will follow.
