Jared Goff is a Super Bowl quarterback who has taken a long fall from grace but there is still talent but can he beat the Miami Dolphins?

Goff may not be the same quarterback he was when he led the Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl but there is still a lot of talent and he can still put points on the board. His problem now lies with his consistency or lack thereof.

Part of the blockbuster trade that sent former Lions QB Matt Stafford to the Rams, Goff has not been able to turn around the Lions franchise.

In his two seasons with the Lions, Goff has started all but three games. He has a 4-15-1 record. He has completed 464 of 706 attempts with 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

The lack of production around him is significant. Goff is often under pressure, he has been sacked 47 times since joining the Lions, and often finds himself pushing the ball downfield into coverage. This is a game that Miami’s secondary could dictate early on.

Xavien Howard and the trio of backups to Byron Jones should be in line for big games. Safeties Eric Rowe and Jevon Holland should also see a big game this Sunday.

If the Lions are going to win on Sunday, Goff has to take the offense on his back and he can’t afford to make mistakes.
