Reason #1 – Mike McDaniel’s run game:
When Mike McDaniel was hired as the Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, the key asset he brought to the table was a creative and elusive run game that was a nightmare to stop.
Mike McDaniel was praised as someone who not only mastered the Kyle Shanahan offensive system, but added layers to it that had not been there before in 20+ years. But unfortunately, we have merely seen flashes of that during his time in Miami.
That should not be the case with the Lions, who are currently one of the worst run-defense teams in the league:
The Detroit Lions currently rank 31st in the NFL on rush defense, giving up 162.8 YPG.

In the last 3 games, the Lions have given up an average of 183.3 YPG rushing!!
Dolphins run game has to show out, there’s no excuse.
Raheem Mostert has had great productivity, averaging 4.5 YPC in 2022 but the play calling is simply not getting him involved as much as it should. A big reason for that is trying to get Chase Edmonds in the mix, who has been a complete disappointment.
The Dolphins currently rank 2
McDaniel should have seen enough by now, and will probably go to Mostert as his RB1 while he tries to exploit one of the worst run-defenses in the NFL.
