Miami Dolphins: 10 observations from Week 8 win over Lions

7. Zach Sieler was the defensive MVP

The interior linemen are the unsung heroes of the defense, and Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler have been plugging holes all season long. But the latter had his most productive day of the season on Sunday, and was the undisputed defensive MVP.

He started off his production with two batted balls that helped get the defense off of the field, and later notched his first sack of the season. He also had a hit on the QB and a tackle for loss. Sieler has been getting good penetration throughout the first half of the year, but he had yet to have the statistics to show for it. Until Sunday.

8. Special teams were better!

The special teams was nothing to write home about, but we certainly saw improvement across the board on Sunday. The Dolphins came in to the game with just 15 punt return yards on the entire season, but Cedrick Wilson Jr. had two returns for 25 total yards on the day. On punt return coverage, the unit made some nice open field tackles and didn’t allow the Lions any extra yardage, and Jason Sanders was successful on his 45-yard field goal, and each of his four extra point attempts.
