Miami Dolphins add an On-Ball linebacker in Alabama’s Henry To’oto’o

Round 2 Pick 54 Henry To’oto’o, LB, Alabama

The Miami Dolphins answered one of their biggest needs on the defensive side of the ball by adding a premier pass rusher. Their two other needs are a second on-ball linebacker and another cornerback.

Currently, the team has a path to getting out of Byron Jones’ deal at the end of the season, a season where it’s uncertain if he’ll even play. They are also dealing with Brandon Jones, Nik Needham, and Trill Williams being out for the season. Kader Kohou, Keion Crossen, and Justin Bethel have played admirably, but there is still a gap in talent.

Linebacker is the other need. Jerome Baker is the only impact on-ball linebacker the Dolphins have on their roster. Elandon Roberts isn’t a bad player, but he isn’t a game-changer. Adding Alabama linebacker Henry To’oto’o would be an upgrade.

The Alabama linebacker is the defense’s leader and one of their best players. He had 13 tackles in Bama’s game against Mississippi State and has 60 on the season. The 6’2” 228-Lbs linebacker is a freak athlete who plays sideline to sideline.

Pairing Baker and To’oto’o would give the Dolphins a dynamic linebacker duo that can both drop in coverage and play the run. The team now has a front four that can go after the quarterback and improving the linebacker role is the next step to a truly elite defense.
