Miami Dolphins: 10 observations from Week 9 win over Bears

6. Not many mobile QBs remain, but must figure it out before Josh Allen

Justin Fields further emphasized the fact that the Dolphins struggle with running quarterbacks, as he made Miami’s defense look silly all afternoon by using his legs.

While there aren’t many mobile quarterbacks remaining on the schedule, they’ll have to figure things out before they play against Josh Allen for a second (and maybe third?) time. Given the Bills’ unlikely loss to the Jets on Sunday, there is a chance that the Week 15 game in Buffalo could be an important one in deciding the division.

Containing Allen is important for any team that hopes to defeat the Bills, and the Dolphins edge rushers and linebackers had better get their act together, quickly.

7. The defense is a complete mess

Remember when the defense used to be the heart, soul, and identity of this football team? Those were good times.

Miami’s defense is a complete mess. It may have to do with injuries, or it could have to do with the schemes put forth by coordinator Josh Boyer, but the entire unit seems to struggle every week. There is little pressure on opposing quarterbacks and even fewer sacks accumulated, and they are in the bottom three in the NFL in total takeaways.

It is a very odd feeling as a Dolphins’ fan to not be able to trust your defense while your offense is practically unstoppable, yet here we are. If Miami hopes to be able to compete for any kind of postseason success, they’ll have to figure out how to stop opposing offenses.
