2023 NFL Mock Draft: A look at the entire first round
By Wesley Minke
Talk about size, speed, and physicality at the catch point. Quentin Johnston is one of the best WRs in this draft class, if not the best, and he has the physical traits to be an absolute problem at the next level.
He would be a perfect slot in as the top WR for Jacksonville and give Trevor Lawrence a legit #1 guy out wide. At 6’4 215 he is a physical freak, and if matured and developed the right way, he will be on the fast track to being an All-Pro out wide.
This is going to be the steal of the draft at #6 if Skoronski can fall to the Bears. They are in dire need of an anchor left tackle after recent production and huge steps from Justin Fields. I have a feeling that Chicago will attack the free agent market aggressively for weapons out wide for Fields.
So with this pick at 6, they will take the best offensive lineman available in Skoronski. He is very similar in draft stock comparison to Rashawn Slater. Both are Northwestern kids and both are absolute brick walls in pass protection. I also love the upside of Skoronski in the run game, as he moves very well for his size.
Myles Murphy is the exact build that Seattle is looking for here. At 6’5 275, he can move very well, while also being able to anchor in the run game and set the edge very effectively. That is taking nothing away from his pass-rushing skills, who combined with Boye Mafe will create a quick front seven.
Myles Murphy is going to be an interesting pick whether he stays here in the draft or not, because of how well he is likely going to test at the combine. He is a Travon Walker type of player athletically, and he likely will rise draft boards because of that also.
Detroit fans will love this guy. He is a tough QB and he will fit a great mold that Head Coach Dan Campbell is trying to fit into this Detroit team. He is a big boy, and he can run very well and does not sleep on the cannon for the arm he is.
I think if his tools were more refined he would have a great case to go #1 overall, but he is just too raw at the moment. He has drawn comparisons to Josh Allen, and while I don’t think those are realistic, I do think Levis can be extremely effective at the next level.
