The Miami Dolphins, once again, found a guy out of absolute nowhere that is holding more than his own.

I have to tell you, I didn’t see this coming. When Austin Jackson went down about an hour into week one, I must say I wasn’t devastated because Jackson has always been disappointing so what was really the difference if his replacement came in and underperformed? I fully braced myself to the understanding that the Miami Dolphins were going to have a massive hole at right tackle.

Larnel Coleman and Robert Jones gave it a whirl at right tackle but neither of those guys supplied anything that would constitute as solid play.

Then Miami elevated a guy named Brandon Shell from the practice squad and ever since that moment the right tackle position has been consistently solid. Is he a pro bowler? I don’t think so but he doesn’t have to be. Tua gets the ball out of his hands so fast, it kind of makes everyone’s job a little bit easier.

What Brandon Shell needs to do is keep doing what he’s doing which is keeping Tua’s blindside clean.

Austin Jackson was available to come back but based on how well Shell has done, McDaniel made it known that Shell was his right tackle. I like that move because Shell has shown more in the games he has played this year than Jackson has in three seasons of chances.
