3 reasons why the Miami Dolphins can win the AFC East

2. Patriots have a tough upcoming schedule

The Patriots win over the Jets last Sunday was huge, and kept them afloat in the AFC East and are very much alive in the wild card race. We should learn to never count out any team that is coached by Bill Belichick, and New England is one of the hottest teams in the league, having won five of their lat six games.

But they’ve completed the softer portion of their schedule, and have some tough contest still remaining in December and early January. They’ll go on the road to Minnesota this Sunday before hosting the Bills on the 1st of the month. They’ll then play back-to-back on the West Coast against the Cardinals and Raiders, before finishing the year against the Bengals, Dolphins, and Bills.

Given that they are a full game behind the Dolphins in the standings, coupled with Miami owning the tie-breaker due to their Week 1 victory, the Patriots will have to have a lot of luck down the stretch if they want to keep their hopes alive. It is very possible that the hopes of New England’s season will depend on the result of their Week 17 matchup with Miami in Gillette Stadium.
