5 things Miami Dolphins fans have to be thankful for in 2022

5. Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.

When Mike McDaniel was hired in the offseason, it was unclear exactly what he would bring to the Miami Dolphins and what kind of improvements he would make to the offense. But he was known as a running-game guru over anything else, and it was thought that he would at the very least be able to repair an offensive line in disarray and a scheme that produced nothing in 2021.

Things started off slowly, but the ground attack is alive and well for Miami, thanks to the emergence of Raheem Mostert as the feature back, as well as a couple of in-season moves that bolstered the position. Mostert was splitting carries with Chase Edmonds to begin the season, but the latter quickly fell out of favor with his issues with ball security and inability to execute schemes. He was replaced by Jeff Wilson Jr. via a trade with the 49ers, and the early results have been outstanding.

Wilson Jr. had 119 yards on the ground in Miami’s last game before the bye week, the highest total from any Dolphins running back this season, and brings a tackle-breaking ability that fits nicely next to Mostert’s speedy style of running.

light. More. Does Tua have a real shot at winning MVP?

It is no secret that the key to success for the Dolphins’ offense is the passing game and their dynamic receivers, but much of that play is made possible by a very respectable ground game that could become a game-changer in itself down the home stretch of the season.
