Jeff Wilson, Jr. didn’t cost too much to buy from San Francisco. The 49ers sold him at garage sale prices and Miami was the winner, so far.

Wilson cost Miami a 5th round draft pick but financially, the Dolphins are only paying $575K in 2023. So far in his two games with Miami, Wilson has rushed 26 times for 170 yards and a touchdown. He is also contributing in the passing game registering one touchdown on five receptions.

Wilson jumped into Mike McDaniel’s offense like he has known it all along…probably because he had a pretty good idea of what the Dolphins coach was doing. The two were together in San Francisco and McDaniel was one of the catalysts to getting Chris Grier to make the trade.

Wilson is quickly becoming a fan favorite and addition allowed Miami to send underperforming Chase Edmonds to the Broncos.

Will Miami retain him after this season? Wilson will be one of 26 free agents on the Dolphins roster but he seems to be a priority for McDaniel and his offensive game plan. The last seven games of the season will play a big factor into the decison Miami makes with him but as of right now, the Dolphins have no RBs under contract beyond this season and Raheem Mostert and Wilson appear to be the top priorities.
