Is there a better value for the Miami Dolphins than punter Thomas Morstead?
Morstead spent his off-season wondering where he would play and he made a phone call to the Dolphins when he realized Michael Palardy was not going to be re-signed. Morstead’s pitch to Chris Grier? I’ll play for the veteran minimum.
It’s unclear if Morstead’s minimum salary will earn him another contract with the Dolphins but they certainly should be considering it.
Morstead’s Black Friday bargain for the Dolphins comes in at only $1.04 million this year. That is an incredible value for a Pro Bowl punter who fits well into the locker room. When Morehead has to punt, he is averaging 45.7 yards per punt in 2022. He has only punted 32 times in 2022 for 1,416 yards with a long of 66. He has 14 punts land inside the 20.
