Mike McDaniel isn’t just playing the Houston Texans. He’s also taking on human nature, which is a solid opponent.

“Oh Sern, how deep are you really trying to get with these weekly game preview articles?” I’m sure that is being said by so many out there.

Trust me, this scans. What I’m saying with this slide is that Mike McDaniel has to get keep his team uber-motivated against a bad Texans team.

We’re human which means we very easily do things out of emotion. Human nature tells us that the Dolphins don’t have to try as hard to get what they want which is a victory against Houston. When things are perceived as easy, we tend to not go as hard.

Go look at the NBA. How many times does a team go up about 20 only for the other team to make a comeback at the end and win? It happens all the time.

Especially coming off a bye week, Mike McDaniel I hope, figured out a way to dangle a carrot in front of his team to make them continue to be hungry as they set to embark on the next hardest part of their schedule. It won’t be hard for the team to get up for the 49ers, Chargers, and Bills. But for the Texans, yeah it’s easy to think you can coast and still win.

But as I said earlier, these are professionals who have pride and don’t want to be embarrassed. That’s why I believe McDaniel will make it a challenge for the offense to put 14 points in the first quarter or something along those lines. Something to keep the players a bit more interested in their work than they usually are. That’s what being the head coach is all about and I strongly feel McDaniel is aware of that.
