Miami Dolphins: 3 bold predictions for game vs. 49ers

2. Raheem Mostert answers the call on a rainy day

There was some chatter between the two teams beginning last weekend when an article highlighted Raheem Mostert potentially throwing shade at his former team and quarterback. He has since downplayed the comments and the incident, but that didn’t stop some 49ers players with responding via Twitter.

As if this game didn’t have enough story lines and implications as it is, the “beef” between the running back and the players in San Francisco only adds fuel to the fire. Mostert was absent during Miami’s last game as he was nursing a knee injury, but it looks like he’ll be healthy enough to play this coming Sunday.

And he just might have himself a day. Miami’s offense is known for its deadly passing attack and speedy wide receivers, but their air attack could be limited by the adverse weather conditions that are supposed to hit the Santa Clara area on Sunday afternoon. That could mean that the Dolphins pay more focus to the running game, and Mostert could be the beneficiary of the extra carries.

No one has a better run defense than the 49ers, but they’re not impenetrable. They have given up 99+ yards on the ground in four different games, and could find themselves on their heels trying to defend the run/pass option from Tagovailoa. Raheem Mostert racking up 75 yards shouldn’t be much of a bold prediction, but it is against this defense.
